D9 cooling fans /What temp?

Post by lozz »

My car Never overheats touch wood,
but ican leave it sat there Running for an hour ticking over and it will never climb over 90 Temp,
and ive never seen or Heard the Fans cut in,
someone said the Fans are Whisper- Quiet ,

So itook the Grille off and Sat there for an hour it was like watching Grass Grow,
and Nothing not even a twitch of the fans,
ive run the car on hot days its sat in Busy traffic and never climbs above 90,
is this normal or is my Thermostat jammed open,
Or do the 110 hdis run cool as normal,
the other hdi ihad went above 90 if it was sat for more than 20mins, :?

can anyone Else confirm what there hdi temp goes up to and what degree before fan cuts in ,
thanks inadvance,

Same with mine , in 5yrs the fan has never kicked in , they are a very
cool running engine also if you have the a/c on the fan cuts in and out
to cool the condensor so this no doubt helps to keep things cool , and the fan
does run very quietly .
.. ooh are those drugs for me Matron

Both the HDi's I've had have been the same, too.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

mines not an HDi but my XUD runs same lozz.

never hear fans, had to remove grill other day when i replaced the 3 relays.

my engine gets to 93-94 then fans kick in , only knew they was on cos i saw them

i dont like it getting to 93-94 but its how it must be. unless my clocks need soldering again and giving a false reading.
but as soon as fans came on temp dropped within 15 seconds to 87 :?

My HDi sits at 80 all day long

I think the odd time I see it climb to 85 odd, but never seems to hit 90

Thanks,
ithought the Thermostat was iffy tbh,
but its never overheated thats a blessin a spose,

it takes an Age for it to warm up in winter unless i put my foot down for a mile or so,
so as said they must be just a cool running engine,

cheers,

My 2.1TD D8 this morning after I had replaced both fans ran for about 50 mins before the fans came on at about 92 degrees, they only stayed on for about a minute.
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.
Hmmmm, straight 6 goodness!
