I am going to do an Oil change myself (quiet at the back).

Now, normally I would head on down to my friendly Puggy dealer, hand over my wallet and let them empty every last bit of my hard earned outa there for a nice shiney Puggy Filter.

But today is different, I am thinking, hold on....... I wonder if there is an oil filter I can use which just happens to be made in the same little factory as the Puggy one with a Lion printed on the side, but for a lot less silver??

Oh and just in case you wondered, I am using Silkolene oil........yes Silkolene........ let's say that slowly shall we ......SSSilk.....O.....Leeeeeneee.....

I am also going to carry out a Forte Flush and Forte Fuel Conditioner (I am speshul)

Now, hurry on with your answers as I want to pick up a filter tomorrow, and I am not going all the way back into town for you lot.........

I always use Castrol GTD oil and whatever filter my local motor factor has in stock. I change the oil and filter every 6k instead of the recommended 12k intervals. I'm not sure I'd bother with the flush and fuel conditioner, never been a fan of these aledged miracle additives, perhaps I'm not speshul enough .


I take it you and the Pug are on speaking terms again?

i agree, dont bother with the additives, and use castrol gtd magnatec, if these additives were so great surely the manufacturers would recommend them?
as for the oil filter, peugeot use purflux filters on all models, so just go to ecp and they will sell you a genuine one for half the price

I did a self service on mine a couple of weeks ago.
I ended up getting a Mann filter from the local motor factor, as that is all they had, and what the previous owner had put on it aswell.

Cant remember what the original pug brand is, but I expect that the price wouldnt be too different to the mann, so personally if I had the option I would go with the OEM stuff. It could be Champion, as I know that is the OEM Peugeot brand for my 1.3 saxo.



Silkolene stuff is brilliant. Do you get yours from OPIE oils?
I tend to use additives quite alot. in all of my cars, although we found that in my mates AX it was probably the carbon deposits that was holding the engine together, as there were a few problems after we did a flush.

Personally i put on genunie pug filters (purflux, £7 ish). Found they are actually cheaper that the fram(£8+) filters, even at a very good cheap moterfacters. If your going to spend the extra on good oil you may aswell get a good filter, espicially as they are cheap.

PS i change my oil every 5k, normally just put in okish semi synthetic (£15 ish). I figure its better to change the oil more often and use slighter lower quality oil, than use really good oil and change half as often.

Well I went for a Purflux one from the Pug dealer (as I was passing anyway) here's the best bit though............£10.38

I was still feeling a bit unnecessary from Friday night so maybe I jusy handed over the money under duress?????

Interestingly, each and every visit to a Peugeot Main Dealer for a routine service includes the application of Forte Oil Flush and Forte fuel conditioner (for Diesels), looking back through the history on my car shows a flush every single time so I am doing the same (keep the Turbo bearings nice).

This oil change will be 4500 miles from the last one in February

The old oil flushes of years gone by did cause problems for people who ran petrol engines running on Carbs and chokes for years and then do a flush, but these days a modern engine with the now much better oil are a lot cleaner internally and the oil flush is a lot less agressive.
