hi new here so go easy

the engine on my 2000 406 hdi 90 over heated today

there seems to be leak out of side of thermostat housing , out of a hole that looks as if a bolt went in , but when m8 bolt is put in it doesnt seem to take to threads

has anyone a pic of the thermo housing to see if we can work out what goes in it , or even if it is safe to just bung it up

Where abouts is this hole? Around the edge or near the centre? If you could post up a photo it would be useful.

Bleed screw missing perhaps,

its more to edge than in middle

Maybe someones cross threaded the bolt hole,
idunno realy,
if the Bolt-wont carnt got back in the only thing icouid sugest is Jb weld that stuff sets like concrete,

the pic ive not long posted up is one iLiberated off Ebay sorry it didnt help much ,

Is this the bit you are talking about - The blue bit is the bleed screw

no its not that , its back towards the back of car from that

ive had a look on mine today, and iknow what you mean now,
your thermostat housing will be the Alloy type not plastic,

the part missing will be a Brass head type bleed screw, with a alan key type head ,

Do not block up the hole the Bleed screw is needed, withought that youve no way of getting air out of the pipes and potentialy cook your head gasket !


grab one from a scrap yard best bet ithink,
