Engine oil recommended?

Hello all,

Anyone please advise on what make of engine oil is best for my 2.0HDi yr 2000 please?
And what grade of oil best suits it. Its covered about 150k

the standard reply for this question is 10/40w semi synthetic,
but dont be tempted to go for the fully synthetic unless you know the car has run on the stuff before as it can loosen deposits built up over many years and cause the detritus to block oil ways and so on.
As for make or manufacturer, as long as it meets the relevant standards and grades i think almost anything will do, i used to run mine on whatever GSF or the local factors had in cheapish, I couldnt see the point in shelling out too much for the branded advertised on the telly stuff.
