how much would you pay

to have a near side rear wheel bearing changed ?
main dealer wants £250

I had mine done at Nationwide Autocentre and they charged £170 each side shop around there may always be a better deal

I would expect to pay around:
£25 - 28 for the bearing Kit
£19.99 for a three legged puller
£3.49 My KFC Zinger Tower Meal
Then I'd do it myself on a weekend

I'd be surprised if the wheel bearing was knackered, it just doesn't really happen on modern bearings.

Id pay around........... a tenner. Heres how:-
1-Find out the bearing measurements
2- Go to your local engineering bearing supplier, and give them the measurements. Pay the tenner to the kind gent for the bearing.
3- Get some good thick grease and pack the bearing with it
4- FIT IT YOURSELF. You might need a press. I have one you can borrow if you want to pop round to my house
Mind you, the cost of the fuel to get here would be around the 150-200 quid mark at the very least!
Easy as that.

my rear wheel bearing is the sealed unit type so it is infact a complete hub got it down to £130 plus vat supplied and fitted.
mush looked under my car and he said either bearing or top drop link and he thinks bearing, will find out tomorrow when it on the ramps

i have yet to jack my car up myself and play about however with the car on the ground, imagine my wheel is a clock face i grab the wheel at 1 and 7 positions and pull from the 1 the wheel moves it also knocks if i pull it from the 12 position.
i am open to suggestions.
ps insurance geezer knocked my condensor claim out the window, did'nt belive it could be damaged by my accident.....little B*&^%RD

I think it will be a suspension part, like a Bush, drop link, trailing arm bush etc

ok m8 cheers for the info
as you know my car has been in the pug garage waiting on a decision and they seemed pretty sure it was the hub, however i will now be able o go into a local garage tomorrow and ask then to look at these bits first.
