406 110hdi, 105k, i notice when i start up and switch off and when engine under load/change of speed/rev's i get a squeak, a mate of mine mentioned the lower pulley/harmonic? Can anyone confirm it could be that etc? I wouldnt know if it ever has had one, i think i cam get one for around £60 from ecp or gsf?

Aux belt could be slipping too.

hi sounds like dual mass to me but i would still check the auxiluary belt tension and maybe give it a spray with wd40 just to see if it temporarily goes
with bottom pulleys they are normaly noisy all the time when they are nackered wel from what i have seen anyway

Dual mass flywheel does a chirp/squeak when loaded up. You cab recreate this when coming on/off the clutch sharply at low speed (open the window to hear). It is actually a sign of wear as the rubber bushing/damping has failed.

A failing bottom pulley makes an unmissable horrible metalic grinding noise which rises/falls with revs - it is so bad you will not want to drive the car like it  one tell-tale sign of a failing bottom pulley is a brownish dust deposited around the area with perhaps a few shiny metal filings/swarf kinda looking stuff.

These two things are probably the HDi's biggest failing but they were fitted to achieve a smooth drive and less vibration.

I've got a chirping noise recently appeared but have put it down to one
of aux belt pulley's as it only does it when blip throttle and not at all in
the wet
