406 TD 2.1 1997 Lucas pump no-stop issue.

Hi Guys,

I have a P reg 1997 2.1 TD with Lucas pump, yesterday the car developed a fault where it takes about 15 secs for the engine to stop after turning off the ignition.

Now I'm thinking this should be a straight forward Stop Solenoid swap but the manual only mentions the solenoid for the Bosch pump and says nothing about the Lucas.

Where is the stop solendoid on the Lucas pump and how the hell do you remove/replace it, any ideas?

A daft question, is there any chance it's overfilled with oil?

Alternatively I had the exact same issue on my 2.1TD when I visited a particular petrol station, so if you didn't fill up at your usual station I would try that first.

I dun a quick search and came across viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7344&p=73033&hilit= ... nds#p73033

I'm still not sure where the stop solenoid is, I got the impression it didn't have one like a Bosch but rather internal...

Off for a Google (oh no, not smegging Star Wars again  )

Thanks for the help so far, but I still don't know where it is located, after doing more research and reading the posts here it would seem that it might be on the back of the pump under some steal with snap off bolts.

Does anyone have the removal procedure with pics etc?
