just wanted to pick someones brains.

i changed the clutch on my 2.1td, it changes up the box perfectly and smoothly but when i go down the box it crunches slightly when changing from 4th to 3rd,

when i change 4th to 2nd then to 3rd it doesnt crunch.

could anyone shed some light on what i could do?

ive changed gear oil and put recomended oil in but still no difference.

I had the same problem on an old 309 1.3 that was my first car about 14 years ago now. I just got used to shifting into second before third on downchanging so never bothered fixing it. I didn't have to engage second, just move the gearstick from 4th to 2nd to 3rd with the clutch in. I always thought the problem was the synchro mesh had gone, but never got it investigated.

when I fitted a new engine to mine i had to adjust the gear selector cables to get them all right, give that a go.
