Gave her a 12000mile service yesterday. Never straightforward, the filter was a right bigger so had to resort to a chisel through it! Used Mobil one 0-30w this time-thinner and I hear more economic. She does feel smoother and picks up better...or so she seems...

Hi Guys,
signature adjusted...
The last Mobil 1 I used was also fully synth but 0-40W - both a good deal in Halfrauds - about £25 for 5ltr.
I only went to 12,000mile as that is the recommendation but I am aware others change sooner. I was thinking that there must be some advantage to using top quality oil over the cheap stuff I used on my previous 205 and 405 with 6000mile interval. what intervals do you guys use - I read here somewhere of someone doing 3000mile interval - surely technology has improved to allow longer intervals?
The oil that came out, although black, black, black, was better looking than the nasty tar like oil that came out of the older cars - when I used to do our BMW (petrol) the oil used to come out, looking no different to how it went in!
Kind regards,
Ed

I have always serviced mine every 5000 miles, but that's just my opinion and probably why I never really see any performance difference, they just go on and on and on.
