Hello Folks,

Have any of you experienced problems with snow and sport lights flashing on the dashboard courtesy of an AL4 gearbox attached to 1.9 turbo diesel lump XUD, and on selecting either first or reverse the car just revs with very slight momentum and when you have got eventually beyond 10-15mph and it changes into second gear and beyond all is well again!

I suspect that 1st and reverse bands are about "goosed" but does anyone know ayone who sells replacement bands and how difficult a job it is to get to them?

Also are AL4 gearboxes interchangable between petrol and diesel engines?

I agree that the AL4 is a poor gearbox but I am contemplating manual conversion as diesel AL4 gearboxes seem rare and mega expensive!
