Just a little thing i've noticed recently when pulling away from a standing start or slowing down to a stop I can hear a knock from the front of the car its only ever 1 occasionally two knocks, the girlfriend thinks its coming from the back its from the front but can sometimes sound like its coming from behind the driver

Does this sound like a suspension problem? I'm fitting new shocks and springs thur so i'll soon find out what the problem is just wondered if there was anything else obvious it may be

it could be drop links, just had mine replaced and that caused a knocking (more than 2 though)

yer I was thinking that but its not enough knocking I originally thought it might be the baseball bat i keep in the boot knocking around hmmm owell I check it out on thur

I have the same problem on my 2.1 TD (1998) and have come to the conclusion that its coming from the back and that the problem is a worn mount on the rear suspension sub frame. I have checked all the links and bushes on the suspension and all are fine. Haynes has nothing to say on the matter. Anybody any ideas?

I've have recently just brought almost the same car a 97 1.8 16v and have what could be the same noise, if not I need to figure out what mine is!!!

It happens almost every time you pull away a clonck comes from the front drivers side sometimes loud sometimes very faint.

I was told by the guy I brought the car from that I needed to replace the Driveshaft!!!????

Does anyone know if this is a common fault, and could it be true???
If not what else might it be??
