Anyone had the rear engine mount done HDi ?

Post by Welly »

My engine mount is knackered, its the rear one at the bottom.

Just wondered if anyone's replaced there's and how much?

I hope it's just the rubber bush and bracket back to the bulkhead and not the whole unit where the drive shaft passes through and everything

It's the engine moving more than anything, I bet almost all HDi's have the same problem but you need to get under it and take the tray off.

The 3 places where the rubber mount connects to the rest of the bush have sheared right through so effectively the rubber connection is now in 2 bits so the rubber can no longer absorb the forwards and backwards movement of the engine. I can easily push the sump forwards and back and see the rubber separate as I do so.

If you get your engine running, then blip the throttle you can see the engine rock backwards on its mounts, it should not do this, not by much anyway, I am convinced it affects the way the thing drives as the power won't connect to the drive line effectively if the engine is 'loose'.
