Welcome in, do you mean turbo lag? I took a while to get used to driving a turbo diesel when I first got my XUD, I think the HDI engine is better but all diesels will have a much smaller range than a petrol when it comes to peak power.
Might be worth checking for oil around the turbo just incase the seals have gone.
Also with your head under the bonnet you should be able to feel the pipe expand under pressure when the turbo starts to boost.
A HDI owner will be able to explain better than me and I'm sure one will be along soon

No it does'nt feel like turbo lag its more like its hesitant when i'm accelerating i'll get the engine cover off in the morning and take a look around the turbo see if there any oil leakage.

Was it like this when you bought it? My 110 was amazingly gutless after the mechanic knocked the vacuum line off the turbo so it could be this or a vacuum solenoid. 90s are reputed to be a little glacial in their performance so it might be hard to tell if it's a fault or just the car's a bit of a slug without driving a known good one.

Hi to be honest i done the cardinal sin and only drove the car for a short time around town so not sure if it was always like that or its just gone like that with me.I'll checkout the pipework and see if anything is amiss.Like i say it just feels very strange feels like i'm towing something really heavy and its holding me back.

The turbo lag does take ages, especially below 1800.
From 1800 it should pull slowly but invincibly to about 2500; this is most fun in third.
At 3000 it will have run out of puff and have become very thirsty.

I know it was a lot smaller, but my HDi 90 Xsara felt really nippy - like a diesel go kart. Responded best to masses of throttle & quick up-changes around 2700/2800. Latterly the cat was virtuallly blocked solid, (history suggests this happens every 80/90k). In this state, ultimate power / top speed was almost unaffected, but turbo lag became horrendous. (If this is the problem the exhaust smells like there's no cat).

take a sample of the diesel out of the filter housing
into a container, if it looks Manky Change the Filter,
Mine held back like it was towing a waggon and it was just down to a manky fuel filter,
might not be the problem but its worth a look ,
