Having a spot of bother with my 97 1.9td,the metal pipe that connects to the bottom of the rad was loose and wore through on the pulleys !!!! good job i do keep my eye on the temp guage !!!! nursed the car home replacing the water very often and repaired the offending hole. No more leaks but the water temp guage won`t go over 80 degrees? normally it goes over 90 then the thermastat kicks in and it drops back and stays at a constant temp,i have also noticed that when stationary and ticking over the coolong fans won`t kick in? I think there is something amiss or i am paranoid !!!!!!

mmmm, sounds normal, Peugeot's are known for their cool running. When you are stationery and ticking over does the temperature creep up?
Another common problem with Pug's is that the cooling system can be a pain to bleed properly.
I suggest shoving an old pop bottle with it's bottom cut out into the coolant reservoir, open up the bleed valves in the coolant pipes, keep squeezing them and topping up the bottle until water comes out of the holes.

Aye, difficult one to bleed! When I changed the coolant I drained it all out into a bucket that had the volume on the side so I knew how much came out. Getting the same amount of new stuff back in was a bitch! There are 2 bleed points on that engine, one on the heater matirx hose where it enters the bulk head, and another on the coolant bypass hose on the top of the engine. They look like little dust caps. You will probably find you'll need to top it up even after a good bleed, as air will still be present and work it's way out over time.

all sorted !!! took a good 25 minutes on tick over for the fans to kick in though ......it took an age to go from 80d to 90d..
