Hi, i tried to change the fuel filter on my 2000 HDi 110 today but failed miserably. I assume the top is removed by turning it anti clockwise but it refuses to move in any direction. As the filter housing is plastic i thought i would ask for advice before resorting to brute force and risk breaking something. Any advice would be welcome.

Yes lovely job - i change mine every 20k and i really dont look forward to doing it!!
Basically its a 24mm head and yes you do turn anti-clockwise (once top pipes removed) it can be tight though!! as there is a metal spring against the cover. Also when refitting make sure the three lugs are aligned before tightening. Also make sure you use the correct size spanner. I rounded mine off and had to by a replacement filter housing from peugeot. Good news though it was only £40

I changed it, very tight and it was worse putting the lid back. Tricky placing the lid correctly. It may be worth marking it position, before you undo it and before you lift the lid off.
I think next time i am just going to put a whole new filter housing on rather than mess around.

Thanks for the advice, the filter is now changed. It helps when you are sure you know what you are doing but i was surprised at how tight it was.
