hi,
No mate, it wont Damage anything, Just dont run it too long with the belt off or you will end up with a Flat Battery,
!!! But dont try, running it with the crankshaft pulley off or it will destroy your engine,

Hi lozz can i just confirm that i can run engine without auxillary belt that drives altinator and a/c motor, but what your saying is dont take crankshaft pulley ( large drive wheel) off or this will damage engine, just making sure i took auxillary belt off but was uncurtain i was able to start engine without belt.
Thanks

Yes mate, iwas just saying dont take the Crankpulley off,
not saying you was going too, but thought id just put it on incase someone reads this thread at sometime, and trys starting there car with pulley off,
result wouid be Bent valves - perhaps.
you will be ok running it with aux-belt off ive done this and never had problems,
just dont run it too long or the battery will drain,

Just had belt off and started engine and ticking rattle gone but really wondering if it is crank shaft pully or pully tensioners but belt back on and started again with rattle from start up on tick over.

Could be the alternator, PAS pump or air con compressor making the noise as well, try turning them by hand to see if you can hear anything or use a long screwdriver as a sounding rod.
