Leaking coolant from back of engine

Post by gav525 »

Not much of a first post here unfortunately :(

Have a few other wee problems an all, but this is by far the most serious and the one i need to get fixed ASAP. Basically i noticed the car was using coolant and looking under the car seen it drip every 10 seconds or so. But it's a lot worse now and is nearly trickling out! So i got the car on the ramps and can see exactly where it's coming from.

Hard to explain, but it's at the back of the block and can only be seen by looking up from below. It's a metal pipe, just above what looks to be the oil drain for the turbo. I can see a small crack on the pipe, but it looks near impossible to replace in situ!! Anybody any experience of this, and is it easier with the engine out? I need to do the clutch anyways, so if it's not too big a job getting the engine out of these i'll probably do it this way.

Should add its an HDI 90 engine

Any opinions?

If you remove the top engine mounting/stabiliser you can tilt the engine forward, that will give you more room.
