406 1.8 16v 2002 noisy exhaust manifold and hesitating cold

Anybody expirienced this?
I get noise like coin in exhaust beetwen 1000-2000 rpm, checked cat nothing in it, new muffler.
Also have hesitation for first mile when cold

sounds like,either blown inlet manifold gasket or more likely loose baffles in the mid box,not an mot failure but irritating,my 406 goes through an exhaust system every 14 months,due to short journeys/cold starts.
another possibility is the downpipe heatshield,mine rattled for about 3 weeks then never again in 3 years.
