hi all.

my nan has a Lreg 405 1.9td.

the tensioner went and now needs new engine.
can anyone tell me what engine would go in it.

not sure if it has an ecu or doesnt it matter

Oh dear, poor thing

It's an XUD much the same as the 406. However the 405 is pure mechanical injection, whereas the 406 has a basic ECU but fundamentally the engines are the same. XUD's are also found in many other vehicles. Would it not be possible to simply fit a replacement head to the 405? As far as I understand it a cam belt failure shouldn't result in piston damage. A head swap on the 405 is not such a bad job.
