Hi all,

I have noticed on starting the car from cold I had a clicking sound with every revolution of the engine which goes away when the cars warm. I had a look under the bonnet and it looks as though the belt on the left hand side of the engine have moved slightly over to the right on the pulley which maybe causing the noise. I need to get this down to the garage this week. Has anybody else experienced anything strange with the aux belts on a XUD engine?

The belts were all changed 30,000 miles ago.

Regards

Austin

Mine was odd. Can't remember much as it was over six years ago.
Something clearly wasn't right because the back of the belt was shinier at one side than the other.
There was also a sort of clicking noise that happened whenever it went onto overrun.

Never found out what it was -- just got a HDi instead :cheesy:

If the belt had wondered off the pully, then probably something has some play in it, most likely a tensioner. If you just stick on a new belt, then it will probably wonder off again. I would get it looked at sooner rather than later. If you're car doesn't have AC, then it's an easy job. If it's got AC, then one of the tensioners is a bit of a bugger.
