D8 2.0 petrol glx engine problem

Hi, im having a problem with my engine. I noticed it felt slugish and then found I couldent get over 5000 rpm. I tried reving it on the driveway and it will hit about 5200 then when I let of it drops below normal idle and the engine shudders continualy. Any ideas? Cheers.

sounds like a fuel proplem eg its not getting enough fuel at the top end or lower end,or there again it could just need a good service,spark plugs filters[eg fuel filter] and ignition leads
if you where nearer you could swap bits of my spare 2.0 liter till you solved the proplem

Well thats encoraging. I was begining to wonder at the head gasket. It is due a serveice. Last one was bout 8k ago.

a good idea is to start it up now while its dark then pop the bonnet to see if you can see any sparks eg ignition leads shorting out.
