Hi guys big PROBS
my car has gone pants its stuck in limp mode, going up hill at only 20 mph. bought a ecu reader which had injector fault resolved this but issue still evident. peugeot dealers have told me to have the fap replaced £400 + they are mad cant afford it. so im here i used the ecu reader to read ecu and it said EDC15 on the reading. the file is only tiny at 512k . i deleted the codes so its clean. but want to update the ecu for defap and then remove the fap system. ive read this forum that that is the best way. anyone help me out here please.
also i have defap for edc 16 and edc17 not 15 what $£%£$%.
please guys i love the car if anyone can help.

Hi there. You can remove the FAP/CAT chamber and then drill out the internals then refit. Then the ecu will throw up the management light and put the car into limp mode so you will need the correct EDC15 file with the fap files removed. You then need to buy yourself a Galletto 1260 (these can be bought from ebay for roughly £25. You then plug it into the EOBD port in the dashboard, read your current ecu, back it up to a laptop or other type of media then you can write the defap file to the ecu. Job done.
Drop me a PM with your email address and I can send you the file. For more info on this see the forum.
Hope this helps
Alex

This is correct, the section of flash memory on the ECU which holds the map data is only 512 KB in size. Back up your current ECU map (several times, and store each copy on a different storage device for good measure) before you overwrite the one on the ECU itself.
Forum member Dogslife has a 2.2 HDi mapped to 180 HP with the FAP element disabled and the FAP system and cerene tank removed from the car. If anyone here can give you help and hints on this, it's Doggy.
The Coupe Club forum is also very useful (
http://www.peugeot406coupe.com/phpBB3) and it's always handy to be a member on both forums. There's a wealth of technical information and how-to's on both forums, with the other board being more Coupe-specific and this board catering for all models of 406 (with some help given to those unfortunate enough to drive Volvos and Fords). Personally, I find the banter better here though - there's more good-natured piss-taking than we know what to do with.

Sounds like Alex has got it covered.
(Just check saghir's car is a fully-mux later D9, or you may need a different file).

Whoops!
Should remove it and all its plumbing; after all, it's just dead weight now, right?

True. (Unless you get some know-all MOT tester who thinks it has to have the whole shooting match working to pass).

Hi guys
Just to update you and many thanks for the great advice on this forum.
I used ecu safe v2.0 to defap the ecu and egr
then had the fap removed. it was completely blocked. Black sutt to say it was all but dead is an understatement.
Took 30 mins to drill it out all.
once cleaned used new seals and put it back in place.
now no more fault codes fingers crossed so far and zooms like its ass is on fire wooooohooo,.
