is it time for a de-fap?

hi, I had a turbo go a while back and since replacement have had anti pollution fault and limp mode, have purchased a pp2000 and the fault code is
P1447 - particulate filter punctured of exhaust, differential pressure info.
the garage who replaced the turbo said that a load of oil had gone through the cat and dpf and that they had tried to clean it out.
I can clear the fault but when I stick my foot down it comes back again, I have the mot in december so should I have that done before a de-fap or have it done now.
I've read dogslife posts about doing a de-fap which seems a bit above what I can do so i'll be looking for a garage to do it.

The fault impies you have little or no differential pressure across the FAP. Worth checking they've reconnected the pipes properly and not swapped them over, (the 2 pipes should lead from the upstream & downstream connections on the FAP to the differential pressure sensor on the bulkhead).

Failing that, it's not really that complicated to defap it - a few people have persuaded an exhaust place to remove / replace the assembly, either for the owner to bash the guts out, or for them to do both, for between £20 & £30.

If you can manage PP2000, you could manage a Galletto 1260 to upload / download the files, (which I can send you). A Galletto is about £25 on eBay.

if my differential pressure sensor has had it, perhaps it got water in it after they steamed cleaned the dpf, would a defap ignore the sensor thus eliminating the anti pollution warning and limp mode.

Yes, definitely.

I'm always cautious about promising a defap will cure everything, because a de-fapped car still has as many things to go wrong as any other vehicle, it just doesn't have the additional potential problems the FAP system brings. However I can verify the differentail pressure sensor, up & downstream temp. sensors & fuel flap sensor, together with the entire fuel additive system, will trouble you no more. 8)
