It's supposed to be MF1 in the front of the engine fuse panel/mux unit but I'll be jiggered if I know how you're supposed to get to it :?

Check the engine bay fuse box too, I had a big fuse (as marked white, serving the radiator fan) which was getting hot and pulling too much current and flagging the engine light. Sounds weird but true.

To be fair you won't really know the cause without a code read :|

Oh, it's pre mux - I searched your posts and you said it was a 2002, perhaps this is different car :?

If your fuse panel looks like then then that's more than likely the right fuse.

Cheers steve. This is an x reg 2000. Gonna try that 1. I've heard people say when they remapped to ecu the fan came on but just ignored it. Don't really wanna do thAt. Rather do it properly

Why do you want to remove it?

I have carried out this operation many times - just let the fan run for the 80/90 seconds required for the download, never caused me a problem.

While I can't guarantee this, I imagine the instruction is there simply to stop involuntary bowel movements when the fan starts unexpectedly.

(Which, I guess, avoids anything unpleasant hitting it).

I asked the guy at hdi tuning and he said it's best to remove fuse co's if fan comes onwhen writing to ecu it could cause a power-drop and there is a possibility of that damaging the ecu. I've read a post where some1's fan came on when he was writing to the ecu & I don't think his was damaged. Though I suppose if I do the ecu writing whenengines completely cold the fan won't come on

So, did you remove the fuse, or decide to live dangerously?
