Sound from the dump valve?
Boost gauge?
It might help if you tell people what you've modified with the turbo when you're asking for help on it...

Sounds like your turbo's shafted. Not the easiest nor cheapest of repair jobs, that. There's been several recent posts about turbos you may like to search for

Typically I'd say.... siezed turbo...
You need to get the air feed pipe off and see if you can turn the compressor wheel with your fingers freely.... if it doesnt turn then its gone bye bye... its not that hard to repair replace, just time consuming... do you have any mechanical experience DIY or Commercial?

No one's suggested the common failed intercooler problem..........
Worth a look surely?

Intercooler broken would still show boost activity on the guage.... and the car would still use some of the provided boost, the std boost controller would never open the wastegate so it would constantly boost !

hi guys, thanks for the responses! just had it up on the ramps (again! have only just changed the gearbox!!) checked the actuator arm and can move that, havn't been able to get the pipe off to check the blades in the turbo yet but doing that 2morro! on the gauge, even if revved flat out, it only goes as far as 10hg so theres definatly no boost, can't even here the turbo spinning up! is it a common fault for the turbo to be working 1 moment and then just to seize up? have had quite a few turb'd cars before and not heard of it! gave no forewaarning that it was gonna go or anything! could it be anything else? have checked all the pipes etc. thanks again

Milage of the car?
Frequency of oil change?
Quality of oil?
Running temps....?
Coolant ?

Are you going to take it off and put it back on?
Another turbo will cost you, exchange .... about £500 or repair about £300 approx... or you can do it yourself, if you buy the service kit !
What do you think you will do?
