This is a wierd one.

Is there an easy way I can rig up a switch to turn the turbo off?

Yes, off.

I did warn you.

Shocking ain't it?

Heh the reason for it is on a normal 60mph cruise to/from work I can hear the faint whistle of my wallet being emptied whenever I make even fairly mild throttle adjustments. I'd just like to see if I can crank up the MPG to drop my £20/day commute costs a bit. Especially in stop-start traffic.

Of course, it could be counter-productive and require more fuel intake for longer periods to get where it would be 10 seconds ago... but I'd like to find out!

Sometimes I wish I had a diseasel.

Will cost you £300.....

Quick and easy way..... lock wastegate open ! :D

BODGE ON ! ! !

I assume with this controller you can also INCREASE the standard boost too?

Me thinks mjb will like more boost and will never turn it down

You are correct, it will allow the increase of boost levels and duty cycle! it provides rpm based boost controll and is an awesome piece of kit ! ! I want one.... but can't justify the cost at the moment ! Maybe a chritmas pressie for myself :D

Bugger £300, I'm trying to save money here not spend it! I'd rather throw the money (which I don't have) at changing my 40,000 mile old oil and filter. Oops... Still, I throw about a pint or 2 a month into it so it can't be too mucky eh?

Increasing boost is not an option for this car. Not at 150k miles and absolutely essential for me to get to work. Hm I really need to find the money to get it comprehensively insured....

So where's the wastegate, what's it look like (thank you haynes for not covering the turbo...) and how do I lock it open?

Not changed you oil in 40000 miles, tut tut.

I'm really 'Nurdy' about Oil changes

Actually, the reason it is burning oil is because the oil has sheared down to very thin grade and it's getting past seals.

I think for the money you spend on top ups you should drain the whole lot and get some decent stuff in there, Kwick - Fit do a 'Kwick Lube' (ooh err) would be well worth it.

Your turbo has an internal wastegate and all you need to do is take off the actuator rod from the hinge, and then turn the hinge completely and then locking it with a make shift clamp... you could just leave it loose and let it flap about if you really want to be crude??? !

Forgive me, but won't the fuel Map still anticipate the Turbo boost and run more fuel even if the Turbo isn't 'boosting'. i.e. it won't be that much more economical to run.

Nope... it shouldn't ! ! !

Once boost is detected @ the EVC then fuel rate is increased depending on imputs from o2 sensor and EVC, MAP sensors, when the engine is running under vacume no extra fuel is injected ( base map parameters ), this is what is great about the Peugeot's electronic boost control, its very, very clever and ingenious... ( YET we still by-pass it to go faster )
