engine oil

having got my 2nd d8 1.9 xud and doing sum work on it. next job is service.
just ordered all filters from eurocarparts online

my question is . if previous owners have been using fully synthetic oil for the past 8 years of owning it and i put 10w40 semi in ,,will the change do any damage ?

obviously its quite high milage 164k so wanna be carefull

as soon as all stuff comes . filters and rear toplinks i can get it all done in 1 day.

some say switching from fully to semi creates oil leaks, that might be true
but the way ilook at it oils oil if its gona piss oil out it will do it no matter what oils in it

thats just my view for what its worth,

some say use this and that £30 for oil f*ck that, asdas oil does the same job and its got the same specs as anyother oil on the shelf,

ive spied big blue drums of engine oil at costcos (Chevron brand) ithinks il be using that from now on
