........ E.C.U ........LEARN SLOW?? need some information

Post by nipper76 »

hiya peeps,
today i was going to ask all the wonderfull helpfull people of http://www.406oc.co.uk about tuning my engine.
i wanted to know how would i go about improving accelaration etc ( my car is a >>>> 2.1 TD )
but then as i was flicking through the pages i saw something that has got me wondering...
the point about after disconnecting you battery your ECU will "learn slow" or something relating to the preformance of you car.
now i noticed my car has been seeming slow comparerd to some cars, in fact ive had my ass whooped by a couple of little cars that are proberly half the power.
is this just diesel cars for you or do i have a problem.
ok mine can be fast, but it takes time to speed up, or so it seems when someone wizz's past LOL
i did disconnect my battery when i installed my stereo. has this caused my ecu to think its running a constant SUNDAY drivers car??
if so how do you turn it back into a rocket??
otherwise.... what sort of upgrades.... mods should i look at to help speed my baby up.
im under the impression you cannot use induction kits and big exhausts on a diesel so whats left??

....................................................... 2 . 1 TURBO DIESEL .............................................................

many thanks peeps

I have a 2.1TD.. and when I first bought it ran like poo. The cause turned out to be a faulty injector sensor, which, after replacing, made the car run as sweet as a nut. Then I had it chipped by the Derv Doctor (Google it) and now it pulls like a train. Not the quickest off the mark (about 10 secs to 60), but mid-range torque is excellent. I can overtake a whole trail of cars without needing a runway length of the road.
