just a quickie
on my 1.9 dt 406 i seem to remember i could drive round town at 35 ish in fifth no trouble
but my 2.1 seems to be taller geared ? i thought they were the same gearbox?
fourth on my 2.1 feels like my old 1.9 in fifth
is it just me or are they different ?
cheers all

Yep, they're different - the 1.9 is a BE, the 2.1 is an ML.

Yeah 35mph in fifth in my 2.1 is silly low revs. I tend to be in 4th even at 40mph. Change up to fifth at about 50mph in general...

I find 30mph zones a bit annoying on the ML5T, third is slightly too high revs but fourth is slightly too low.

yep, my HDI110 is the same. At 30 its a bit revy in 3rd, and a bit under revy in 4th. It will hold 4th at 30, but it needs to be dead flat.

my 2.1 will do 30 in 5th at about 1100 revs,but 40 at about 1400.

110's & 2.2's are the same - about 31 mph/1000.

I agree, 30 mph needs 3rd & a half.

I'll try and pinch a twin speed axle or splitter from a truck, that gives you half gears. :supafrisk:
