ive noticed with my new d8 1.9 if i boot it in 1st and 2nd at night with a car behind me with headlights on i see a lot of smoke . big cloud like .
what causes this ?
could it be injectors ?

That'll be a 1.9td,my old 306 1.9td smoked a lot but never had a problem with mot's.My 09 Peugeot Boxer smokes when you look in the mirror at night but hardly noticeable in the day,it's just looks worse in someones headlights.

I thought that was normal for any diesel. Mine certainly does that.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

ye it is normal but my old 1.9 didnt have half as much puffing out ...

But if i remember your old one didn't go as well either,more go more smoke! :cheesy:

Mines does that as well but not as much now that ive remapped her. I sometimes think "jesus what must they think behind me".
I noticed that if i then took her for a blast on an A road,it would drastically reduce.
Sometimes i think its just a worn engine( maybe too much gases escaping,unburnt?).
Its definitely a puzzler though eh

Don't forget with the air temp in the minus it's not all smoke, have a look at your central heating flu on a really cold day. Cold moist air and hot exhaust fumes will have the same effect.
