Not sure if this goes in here or not?

Back in January while fitting my tow bar we noticed the pipe going from the cat to the back box had corroded right where it clamps to the back box and ready to drop, a bit of weld and some bandage and it's done well fair play but it's an obvious mot failure... not due to July but by then i think i'll be to skint to replace it  so really should do it soon.

My lmf said back then that it's only about £28 to replace as its only a joining pipe and not part of the cat but if i was to source this say from ebay to save some much needed wonga will i need a part number or is it just worth just going to my lmf just in case ebay send the wrong part leaving the car un usable for a few days?
Car is 2000 model 406hdi 110 w plate if that helps.

There all the same mate,
as long as you get one thats listed for your car (saloon /estate are differnt

if its only apipe you need and not sections with boxes, iwouid ask at motor factors,

i sooner get parts from them : Reason, if there the wrong part just go back to shop and swap it,
waiting for stuff in post or from parcel monkey to much of a waiting game,

also ive seen in the past plenty of cars in breakers yards with what look almost new Exhaust parts,
iknow not new but they only charge a £10 tops for a section of exhaust

Thats my concern with ebay, if i go to my lmf he will deliver a replacement part if i'm stuck usually the same day if i find out early enough in the day he ordered the wrong part.

normaly you just give them the Reg, and they will get you the correct part, saves some hastle sometimes,

Not a pug dealer no but my local car spares shop is quite good he'll deliver parts to me if i'm cheeky enough  he does have a tendancy to order the wrong bits now and then though maybe i should allow two days work just in case  ..... only problem is though it will be done up on my mates works ramps so dont want it stuck in his works.

I wouldn't even get a price from a pug dealer, kwik fit would be prob cheaper and i dont fancy going there either.... Dont think ebay are much cheaper than my local motor factors either mind and he knows me well so may stick to him for this one.

I've seen a reciept for a cat and back box in the mountain of reciepts from previous owner i got here and to be honest the section thats broke looks good except for the part thats gone.... some people dont care though i got reciepts that total 2 grand since 2009 for mine and its a 12 year old car.

And thats just half of it.

If your not bothered about genuine parts, get a unipart one. Bought a centre from my works parts dept, cost me less than £50.
