my 2.1 has been making a funny squealing noise for a while but as it was running perfect i just kept putting it off.
anyway went out for a meal for my daughters birthday and said we,ll go in mine as i keep saying its better than my wifes rcz.
just about to reverse park and i thought i,d stalled it but
when i tried to start it the engine wouldnt turn just a little scream type noise
i thought the worst but having no tools on me i decided to illiminate everything on the aux belt,
so i cut the belt off!
the car started perfectly , the alternator was so seized it stopped the engine dead.
my question is this ,will a 1.9 alternator fit? as i can get my hands on one of them.
mines got aircon
if not has anyone got a 2.1dt alternator?

I would have thought it would for knowin there pretty much the same engine but ent to sure easy way of finding out is putting them both together and matching them

no bud i,ve got a few d turbo spares in my garage and i know theres a good alternator in there
i.ll be using that one

got my 306 dt alternator and tried to fit it to my 406 and guess what, it doesnt fit.
when you put the first mounting bolt in and swing the alternator to line up the second hole the body of the alternator hits the mounting bracket before the hole lines up.
i can only imagine the mounting brackets are slightly different.
the alternator came off a 306 dturbo s and it was a bosch
luckily my local tatters had a 2.1 in and all good now

slade lane bud but all the 2.1 has gone i had the last bits before they weighed the shell in mint shell too
