HDi oil consumption higher in Winter?

Has anyone noticed there HDi uses more oil in the cold weather?

After the oil level not moving one bit all through the summer it has just gone down by one 'notch' on the digi gauge like this 00000_

Mind you, I have been driving fast recently at high speed, and I have definately noticed before that this is the ONLY time you will get a bit of oil consumotion, at continuos high speed.

Wondered whether it was the high speed runs or the cold weather?

mine only uses any oil on a sustained high speed jaunt. otherwise, it never needs a top up.

Mine never needs a top up unless I lose me oil cap (twice in a week) and oil pisses out all over the engine and sh*t.

Not topped up in 14000 miles and all motorway work.

Could be it just now reached the point to subtract one of the indicators.
It will be more interesting to you to see how long it takes before the second indicator 'disappears'
By then you'll know whether or not the oil consumption is significant.
You can, of course, top it up and see how long it will after that, or change it all if you're near oil change anyway.

Well, after a couple of days the oil gauge is now full again all by itself 000000

And that is with the car parked in a very flat level garage for 14 hours a night, with me checking the level at the first start up of the day 8)

Does anyone know how that level gauge works?
