Hi guys. A quick story.....I sold my car and it came back to me with a blown engine and 4 lads who wanted they're money back. Instead of taking a kicking I handed the money back over as I didn't think it would be as bad as it was but it was. Anyway, the engine was removed and I sourced a new one ( a 2l turbo). The engine went in okay but then I came up against the wiring loom issues which got sorted by pug1off and now I'm here!

So finally got my wiring loom sorted out, and now i found another problem. As i now have the wiring loom made for the car I'm now stuck to this engine....

It's a 406 sri 8v turbo 150 bhp petrol engine. The problem is the turbo manifold is rubbish and only fits the original turbo, which seems pretty pointless spending time and effort swapping engines from a 135 bhp to a 150 bhp engine. I need to know what to do. I've been told to custom build a manifold at £700 and been told by pug1off that by adding a t28 turbo, a better manifold and management, I'll be seeing 300bhp.

Here's a few pics of my problems :-

As you can see the standard turbos won't fit the manifold and even if I get a plate made to make it fit the manifold it is still so restrictive.

The piping is a relocator to put the turbo above the gearbox, but with the escort cosworth turbo that i have the lag would be horrendous and add that to the manifold!!

I've spoken to turbo technics, they couldnt help. Spoke to owen developments and they couldn't help but put me onto nortech performance who want £700 to build me a tubular manifold to release the power!

So what have other people done to fit better turbos to this engine? Or what have you done to improve the original. pug1off reckon 200 bhp is the most you can get out of the t22 original turbo. Maybe change the actuator and you'll get more bhp but at a risk of major overheating issues?

I'm stuck!

if you change the turbo i think you will have to change the ecu as well as i dont think it will cope .
cant you get the turbo manifold machined to make a larger hole then use a adaptor plate?

i think the general consensuses from around the forums is the only was is to use an adapter plate, and its gotta be better running a better turbo at 1 bar or 14psi than the original unit running at max, it will be getting rolling roaded to adjust the ecu, but please keep your ideas coming it all helps and by christ i need help, here's the car
