right i think im going to motivate myself to fit my gti6 exhaust manifold next weekend, so i opend the bonnet and had a look, and i think the gti6 manifold will foul on the heater pipes, can anyone tell me if they will and what i will have to do if they do
also what cat fixing kit will i need, one for my car or a gti6 or should i just buy both?

Yes it will foul the heater pipes. And you will also need the heat shield for the bulkhead.
One way round it is to cable tie the pipes to the scutter panel, a mate did this but when a tie snapped he melted a water pipe and cooked his engine.
Id buy the Gti6 pipes, you will also need a GTi6 cat and Im not sure if its compatible with the 406 exhaust.
