Hi, I cleaned the maf today, disconnected the battery first, started car and noticed the engine management light on. Car seems to be in limp mode? Can this be easily reset by myself?? Also, watched on youtube how to check egr valve..push up diaphram or whatever its called, put finger over vacuum pipe and it should stay up?? But it springs back down.

Apparently they're quite fragile and easy to damage, which is why I've never cleaned mine. If it's not cleared the light by now then it probably is snafu

They're expensive but fairly common though.

Well, after a disatrous attempt to clean the maf--use the right stuff guys!!(may have been knackered anyway),i took the car for diagnostic yesterday. Engine light had come on,and was in limp mode. Test picked up 4 faults..egr,turbo boost?,maf, air temp sensor(maf related). Just by chance he had a new maf there! (i*d told him i was coming the previous day..he must have ordered one..clever sod) Anyway, after fitting(Siemens part £75) car runs better, but egr might be an issue?? Knocking/pinking sound? Can these egr be blocked off, without adverse effects? Have read their not really needed. Thanks ps Faulty maf can show a egr problem when its ok?
