hi im new to the forum, ive just bought a 406 for £400 it has a few problem
1. window wipers stuck half way accross windscreen

2. blow in the exhaust

3.(the weird one) when start it up sort of hunts not majorly but enough to notice, after a while it stops but rev it up to 3000rpm and let them drop back to idle it hunts again...... and arround 4000rpm it squeels abit

are any of these problems well known? or has anyone heard of them and could share some advise?
also it sounds abit huffy, do they all sound like this or will it be the blow in the exhaust or is this a whole world of other problems?

petrol or diesel, what year?

Profile says HDi. I suspect the idle speed might have something to do with the exhaust blow. As for the wipers, blown fuse?

sorry its hdi and the wipers sweep but they just stop half way up the windscreen but yet they dont hit or anything

sorry its hdi90, the wipers still sweep buut instead of staying at the bottom they go half way up buut they dont hit at the top or bottom or anything

If there staying in the Middle of screen when there parked, switched off,
iwouid loosen and move the Arms to where they shouid be,
if then they go back to, iffy mode, motor or linkage fault,

i did think that but the problem is when they sweep they dont hit, so if i move them, then surely they will hit either the bottom or the top, somehow the motor thinks the middle of the screen is the bottom

ithink most probs someones had the arms off in the past,
or has the right and left wiper arm been mixed up
