Daft question I know but..... Purchased bearing Part Number (From Bearing) - CXWY 6006Z - Internal Diameter (according to Google search) 30mm - stripped out my driveshaft - had to leather the old bearing out so was buggered by end - offered up this new bearing but the inner diameter seems very/too tight to go over the first 'step' of the driveshaft (the lip just after the engine end splines)- should the bearing need 'persuading' all the way down or should if fit easilly enough and persuaded for the last bit.. when googling this comes up as the right bearing.. do I need to batter it on?
Cheers troops

I haven't changed one of these on a 406, but the ones I have fitted over the years have needed persuasion with a length of scaffold pole to "slide hammer" them on, just like wheel bearings on the old type rear axle shafts.
Just one point....make sure you are fitting it from the correct end of the driveshaft.

Cheers mate, yeh, fitting from opposit side to CV joint - just struggling to get it started over the 'lip' that is at the gearbox end, just under the splines, didn't want to batter it too hard if it was meant to slide on easy until the last little bit at the inner cv joint

Just found inside race for old bearing 35/36mm - one I was sold 30mm - hence why it's too tight

Got one - 35x62x14mm - check the price (I opted for SKF)

Cost me just shy of £7 inc P&P
Might be a handy site to save as a fave - but off the road for another week -
