Hi folks anyone able to help. My wife has been using our 406 coupe 2003 2.2HDI for work and tells me that yesterday she got an error message 'engine anti pollution system defective'. she tells me that after getting up to temp say 5 miles there is a loss of power. On her way home from work same problem. today I took it out after checking the air filter and after initially showing the message it dissappeared after two miles, there was no loss of power. Advice on the forum seems to be get a diagnostic reading then de fap or bypass the filter thus adding extra HP and better fuel economy - what does this do to the emmissions for MOT purposes?. A couple of local garages don't want to touch it. Can anyone help me out I am in Merseyside.Cheers Paul

Hi Paul & welcome to the forum. 8)

De-fap & remap are definitely possible, with no issues at MOT time, (mine has passed 2 tests with no problems since conversion).

It's a practical DIY job if you can manage a ecu flash programmer, or if you want someone to do it for you, there's a couple of the coupe forum guys in your neck of the woods.

Cheers Doggy, thanks for the response, whilst no stranger to spanners and the anglo saxon expletives that accompany them, having had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago the thought of lying on my back in a puddle doesn't fill me with the joy it once did, so if any of the forum folks can help, I'm all ears.
Thanks again Paul
