Cooling system Pressure Relief

Post by tvbarker »

Hi,

Having a problem with the cooling system seems to be loosing water through the pressure relief valve identified on the picture below.

What might be causing it?

No change to the system, didn't notice it earlier, got the warning light on the dash, topped up (a decent amount), then the light came on again - same problem.

Starting to wonder if the recent issues I've had with electrical systems might be related to the car loosing cooling and pouring all over the engine!

If you are talking about the blue plastic part that is not a pressure relief valve it is a cooling system bleed valve, there shouldn't be any water coming from here.

If there is a leak from this blue cover replace it.

i would also check to see if the stat is opening as if its not this would build up pressure and it could release through the bleed valve if the blue cap was a bad fit.

The thermostat is below the blue cap, if the thermostat didn't open nothing could reach the blue cap.
