Whistling noise? And how do you know if defap is successful?

Hi guys,
Got a 2.2 HDI coupe recently and trying to sort out its problems. First thing was to remove the dpf, so cleared the fault codes with pp2000, read the ecu file with galletto, ran it through ecusafe and it said it had removed the dpf, wrote the new file back, unplugged the temp and pressure sensors and started it up. Seems fine, though the additive ecu is still saying that the additive level is low. Shouldn't the defap have disabled the additive ecu? I tried to follow a guide about resetting the additive counter but I didn't seem to have the same options as the guide. The multifunction display isn't complaining like it was before, just the fault codes on pp2000. pp2000 also says the additive fuel pump is defective, related? I don't need it to work!
I'm uncertain about how it's reading the additive ecu though....when I select the ecu it comes up with a message saying that it cannot recognise the ecu but do I want to carry on anyway. It still reads the fault codes etc but could this be why I don't seem to have the same options?
The car no longer seems to be in limp mode, the asr/esp isn't saying its defective anymore (which I think comes on in limp mode?) and I had it up to 3500rpm down my road (3000rpm max in limp mode I've heard?) and like I said it isn't coming up with an antipolution error or additive low message on the multifunction screen. Though I'm wondering if it's just because I've disconnected the pressure sensors....
Is there a definitive way to check whether the defap ecu changes have been successful?
The car definately has more power than it did before, though there is still a whistling noise coming from somewhere. When it was in limp mode I assumed it was the turbo wastegate being constantly open in order to stop the turbo pressurising. But now it doesn't appear to be in limp mode anymore and it's still happening. Any ideas what this could be?
Plenty of other faults to fix as well yet (central locking not working, fuel cap sensor broken and plenty of intermittent ecu communication faults) but one thing at a time I suppose! I haven't seen any other fault codes that may be related (as far as I'm aware).
Sorry for the essay but I'd be very grateful for any advice/ideas/suggestions!
