my car doesnt seem right from letting it run out of fuel the other day
i did 1 mile driving back home with the car running out of fuel. it would be ticking over at 500rpm then wouldnt have no power then it would have a little burst of power untill i got home it was clearly running very low on fuel.
anyway wen i got home it completely run out and since putting some in the car isnt running right ?

any ideas ? what could be the problem ?

The obvious thing would be an airlock or perhaps a blocked fuel filter?

Yeah, I'd agree that it's sucked some air into the system. Did you prime it fully before starting it again? Give it another prime and then take it for a good hard run, that should get any remaining air out.

It seems to come back to the same thing. It's really not a good idea to run diesels low on fuel. I know it happens to the best of us, but with a fuel gauge, it really shouldn't.

Some of our comercial vehicles can not be right for several days once they run out of fuel.

The problem iget sometimes is these pay at pump jobbies,
if the machine is fubard your knackerd, luckily ive never run out when the machines are down but ive been close too it,

ithink they will all go to card method eventualy so its going to be fun for some,

I agree with the air lock

I always carry a can with a fiver's worth of fuel in it
Let's face it, our cars are not reknown for having the most accurate gauge in the first place are they

Could be worth checking the in-tank strainer too. (If it's that, the priming bulb will go soft).
