Hi Pug lovers
Have a fuel leak on my HDI 90 coming out of the fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail, had a new sensor a month back that didn't fix it , was told by the stealer to make sure it was done up really tight, checked that and tighten it up still got a leak .I randomly get the car idling fast over 1000, and lack of power, switch it off start up again and usually back to normal , put this down to the leak in the fuel rail from the pressure sensor. ( Caused Engine management light to come on ) Can anyone advise me , can I use some type of sealant (i.e.) lock-tight or recommended pipe sealer on the fuel pressure sensor thread. Was told by the stealer that a new fuel rail is going to cost a lot. Can anyone give me some advise.
Kind regards
Sollyboy

Still got a leak ,
Come on you bunch of puggers, Any advise, blue tack , plumbers tape ect. Really don't feel like paying £350 to the stealer for a new fuel rail , plus new pipes, just to stop this leak. There must be some thing on the market that I can use to hold back the fuel and keep the pressure correct in the fuel rail ???? any taker............Where's Welton when you need him. Sollyboy calling Welton come in Welton. Merry xmas all

There are jointing compounds out there, any industrial pipefitting place like BSS or Pipeline Centre would do a PTFE based paste which seals the threads and is rated for fuels and oils etc.........

BUT, I would be more worried about 'bits' of the paste entering the fuel rail and clogging the Micro-fine spray holes in the injectors.

Even PTFE tape will shread with bits falling into the rail until it bunched up at the top of the thread. I would be looking at why it leaks, is it possible that the thread is split in the fuel rail?

If it was me, I might have a go at sourcing a rubber O ring or washer to seat at the top of the pressure switch to act as a seal. I would try this only to see if I could get it to seal but I cannot recommend it as a permanent solution as the seal may break down with the heat/fuel and cause a problem, it may not even work anyway because of the 450 Bar of pressure behind it.

It is really weird how you have this problem as normally there is no need to touch anything here.

Be VERY CAREFUL not to allow debris into the rail, this would be a disaster.

Sorry I can't be of more help here.
