Auto to Manual Conversion **edit** do I buy a newer 406??

Post by plod »

Just wondering......

There was a 2003 Executive 110 with a snapped cambelt that sold on the bay this past week for £310 - but it was an Auto

So......

For arguments sake, if something like that came up again, could I take my engine, box, and gear linkages out of my car, and put them into the latter car without too much grief????

It'll be down to if you can get ecu safe (or whatever) to stop the BSI looking for the gearbox ecu and raising Cain when it can't find it.

That HDi probably only needed 8 followers...

Ah right

Yeah, you're right, probably only needed followers

Just exploring my options really

There is a 2003 2.2HDi Executive with 103k on it 10mile down the road
Maybe i'm better off trying to get some dosh together, and breaking the plodmobile, and putting the 200bhp remap that Doggy said is available now
Compare the Meerkat says i'd save £300 a year on insurance, and then there's the £50 a year cheaper car tax

whatever = PP2000.

Not tried it, but I can't see why it wouldn't work. Worst case, need to clone one with the same hardware/firmware/software that works. (kinda thing I'd attempt for myself, less comfy about promising to do for somene else)......

Check out Nicowico's posts on the coupe forum, (c/w dyno printouts).
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

NICe!!!! Very Nice

You may all disagree, but let's just say for arguments sake if I broke the plodmobile

Leather interior - I paid £130 for it - still think it's worth that as absolutely no rips
Electric conversion for seats including conversion for heaters, plus ecu, plus ecu cover, say £70 - owes me more than that
17" Wheels - 2 new tyres on back 12months ago, 2 new tyres about 6 weeks ago costing £120 - £200
Powerflow Stainless Steel V6 zorst adapted to fit the HDi with hand built downpipe - £180?
Rear spoiler - £??
110 engine with remapped ECU (new clutch on engine 12months ago) - £300??
Custom painted door handles - £40
Custom painted dash - £50
D9 centre console - £15
D9 air vents and handbrake button - £10?
Refurbished rear calipers - £60
Clocks with aluminium dash rings - £30?
Strut brace - £15?
Leather coupe leather wheel - £25?
Scrap metal value of the rest of the car £100??

I figure there is an excess of a £1000 in value for the car in parts if not more- parts listed add up to over £1200, but who knows eh?
They are asking £1974
I will save £300+ on insurance
I will save on car tax

I may or may not happen, but there is the possibilty in "real value" terms that it could only cost me £500

Like I say, we can argue on prices of what stuff is, or is not worth, but just thinking ( and typing ) out aloud

Two words of caution:
1 - it needs to be a fully-mux car, say 2002 on (DAM 9001 onwards).
2 - one or two very late cars with ESP may not be compatible.

No way of being absolutely sure without doing the download.
(I believe any problems could be overcome by the various experts now on hand, but nothing is ever gauranteed).

1. it's a 2003 run out model as has the coupe wheels, silver door handles etc
2. specs say it has ESP

Drivers bolster looks a little worn in other pics, but I have a full bottle of Glipstone Liquid Leather in Pug Black that i've never used, so would sort that.

Place don't open till 10, but i've got to be at work at 8, and don;t need to be in Leamington till 9.30 so have got time to look on the way

Got out the lorry and I was back in it 3 mins later
Seen all I wanted to see lol

Front edge of bonnet looks dull - filled and painted I reckon
Door gaps didn't look right
Covered in scratches - ie more than you'd expect
Paint missing on drivers rear quarter
Passenger rear quarter is full of filler
No biggy but pug lion missing off boot
Plus I can't believe someone trying to sell a car would leave the interior looking so dirty!

No, definite walk away on this one

They've been trying to shift that one as a cat c or something for ages, I think it was up for sale about a year back somewhere near Manchester too.

Did you notice if it really had the 6-speed box?
