Hi to everyone newbie here
bought my 406 estate a couple of weeks ago and i've got a gearbox wobble under acceleration, seems worse in 4th. as soon as i ease of the throttle it goes, first thing i thought was engine mountings but there fine . a neighbour reckons gearbox itself or drive shaft but i have no idea how you could tell . I describe it as a wobble because that's the only way to describe it, it's definately not a vibration. hope somebody can help or shed some light on this..
the car is a diesel 2001 90BHP estate.......

I get the same thing with the works can and it's the drive shaft feels like the hole cars wobbling ?

Which engine mountings have you checked? There are 3... and not always easy to tell from just looking. The top engine and gearbox mountings are easy enough to change but the bottom one is a tricky bugger.

A neighbour who's a bit of a handy bloke with a spanner checked the mountings for me and said there's no undue movement and they seem fine.

Yes there is a point usually in fourth gear under acceleration when the whole car seems to wobble

My engine mounts have gone and I don't get a wobble so I wouldnt say it was them personally I'd check drive shafts first and go from there
