J2TE with 16valve head on a 306

Hi everyone,

Just registered here so don't be too hard on me.

I'm looking to build my weekend/holidays ride and was thinking at a 306 cabrio 2.0 8v.

Initially was thinking to fit a J4RS and tranny into it but changed my mind to something more ambitious [for me at least]. I'm going for a J2TE since it has the same block but I want to fit a 16valve head.

My question is if there's big difference between the S16, GTi and regular 2.0_16v heads. I assume that the S16 and GTi will have more sporty cam profiles.
What about the exhaust manifold from J2TE, will it fit the 16v head or will need a new one?
Will a crank from a XUD make the engine less prone to stress/more reliable in the long run?

Which gearbox will be more suitable, the one from Gti6 or the one from Xsara VTS. I heard that the one from Xsara is stronger/more bulletproof than the one from six.

Any other/better ideas will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
