back in march i had a leaking heater matrix and had it replaced, and now tonight ive got coolant all over my footwell again, took it apart again and it doesnt seem to be leaking at the 2 pipe joins which i thought it might be,so why is it leaking again when its a new matrix? is there anything else it could be?

Where is it leaking from mate?

when you took it back out did you fill it with water .. if its the core that leaking it couid be just a Bad Matrix
if it was a New one when you fitted it, i wouid Return it and ask for Replacement, (refund) they shouid last years,


Ive never had Matrix problems on 406s but when ihad 405s one of them ihad went through Matrixs,
and it was Headgasket Related,

its leaking from the bottom corner as if its split inside somewhere, mechanic said if was being over pressured due to headgasket etc then it would vent out of the filler cap? was a new matrix so a bit worried as dont want it to be something more serious, but then a new matrix shouldnt leak already?

It's not impossible for you to have picked up a duff'un. Unfortunately you're going to have to pull it out to have a better look

I was thinking that, surely it'd blow the cap first, followed by the top hose If it splits the matrix then it can't be too good to start with...

ive left it with my mechanic and waiting for the new matirx from eurocarparts, i put the first matrix in myself but it kept leaking from the 2 pipe joins as i couldnt get it tight enough, so took to mechanic who sorted it all, i dont think i could have damaged the matrix as its thick pipes that are inside the fins and dont break easily surely? did it end of march time and started leaking again now, so 4 months. bit worrying whats causing it, obviously id like it to just be a faulty matrix but then is this possible?

I'm sure I remember something about duff pattern matrixes over on the Autobahnstormers
