Unplugged the Maf sensor on the car today to see if it made any difference to how it runs and there seems to be a noticeable improvement in how it goes,so my question is how long is it safe to leave the Maf disconnected?
Cheers Paul

ive run cars with the Maf unplugged its done no harm.
But inoticed the Mpg drops a fair bit,
iguess thats due to the Ecu just Running off a Default value with them being unplugged, not sure how that works tho,
it will also /may : Flag up some Error Codes ..so a Code reader May be needed to clear them off once you fit a new /replacement Maf,.

In the short term I wouldnt be worried about it at all. In the long term however that could be a different story. If like lozz says the ecu is working off some default setting then there's no way that the engine is achieving the leanest burn possible. It will more than likely be just guessing the optimum fuel to air ratio. Which in turn is going to mean increased emissions, more carbon monoxide and more hydrocarbons to deal with. Remember your cat only has a limited lifespan!
