2.2 HDi Intake Manifold Air Distributor - linkage broken

Just spotted that there was a small broken linkage on the induction end of the engine. Service box tells me that this is part of the Intake Manifold Air Distributor system.

A web search quickly revealed what it does. Looks like a bit of a beast to fix though - anyone have any experience of changing the diaphragm?

Changed the complete actuator on my last one, (on mine the plastic rod-end-bearing-substitute had snapped off). You can't by a diaphragm alone, AFAIK.

Not too bad a job, access is easier if you dismount the throttle position sensor & its mounting bracket, a l-o-n-g 1/4" drive extension helps as well......

IIRC the part was between £20-£25 a couple of years ago.

Short term, you can make do with moving the flaps to whichever position gives the best power / throttle response and leaving it there, (it doesn't spring or self-return).

Cheers - it is the exact same failure on mine. I was going to wire tie the two parts together in the moring to see if it makes any difference.
