Remap and MPG

A family member has just, two weeks ago, had his 406 90Hdi remapped, completely transformed the car. Does anybody know if the MFD still display a 'true' MPG figure or does the remap distort it due to the longer injector opening time? It is showing an average of 35 mpg at present, though this could be due to the heavy right foot that has developed, dating from the remap date coincedentally.

On my remapped 2.2's the figures are within 1 mpg variance, but this does vary from car to car

Both of my remapped 2.2's have been about spot on.

Those 'tuning boxes' that fool the ecu into running excessive fuel pressure do screw up the mpg calcs, though.
